About Me

Jeannie Colvin

Welcome

Hi, I'm Jeannie.  I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (since 2005) with a practice in Newport Beach, CA.

I've always been drawn to therapy.  In college, when I was trying to decide between becoming a writer or a therapist, I could not get away from how much I wanted to be part of peoples' healing journey.

I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth and change. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive space for people to explore their inner selves and overcome personal challenges.

Sometimes people ask, "How can you listen to this all day?  Don't you get annoyed/tired/overwhelmed?"  I love what I do and use my personal time to recharge.  I take the therapy work you do seriously which means I take my self-care seriously too.  My favorite ways to recharge are spending time with loved ones, reading anything by Brandon Sanderson, spoiling my dog, and gaming (especially TTRPGs).

What kind of therapy is this?

I practice Depth psychotherapy which is informed by Psychodynamic and Jungian Analytical theories.   This means we take time to notice patterns, explore your inner world, work with dreams, honor personal creativity and spirituality, and give attention to the parts of you that may have been overlooked.
