Professional Consultation

What is professional consultation?

Even the most seasoned therapists need support from time to time. Feeling stuck is a natural part of the journey, not a sign of failure.  Reaching out for help in these moments strengthens not just your work with others, but your relationship with yourself as a healer.

It is through seeking support that resilience deepens, wisdom grows, and the heart of this meaningful work continues to unfold.

What is professional consultation?

Professional consultation, or supervision, is for therapists who would like help thinking about their clients.  It is a standard in the field to get help when we need it, while maintaining client confidentiality.

When should I seek consultation?

Every therapist encounters moments of feeling stuck. Often, the most helpful step is to think alongside another therapist. In my experience, the richest part of supervision isn't about finding a single new technique, but about shifting the conceptualization in a way that opens up new perspectives on the work.

When you feel stalled, stagnant, frustrated, discouraged, or are just ready to think deeper about what is happening in your therapy space, reaching for support is not just necessary—it is part of becoming the therapist you are meant to be.

Do I need to come every week?

That is up to you.  Some therapists benefit from weekly discussion of their cases, while others prefer to come in as needed.

What modality do you practice from?

My general approach is to apply concepts from Psychodynamic and Jungian Analytical Psychotherapy in ways that best suit the individual before me. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all; it is tailored to each person’s needs and goals.

The expression of Depth Psychological theory in therapy varies based on the individual. For example, adolescents or individuals dealing with trauma or disorganizing symptoms may initially require a more practical focus, working on building coping skills and stabilization.

Do you offer therapy for therapists?

Yes.  There is no path through this work that does not, at times, require us to seek our own healing.  Therapists carry their own unique histories and patterns, and engaging deeply with your own story can strengthen your resilience, insight, and capacity to thrive in this demanding and meaningful work.
